  • With support of Earth Day Network and the Global Green Grants, launched the “Save the Kafue” campaign which was broadcast by CNN on the “Inside Africa” programme. As part of the campaign, working in conjunction with the Environmental Council of Zambia, obtained compliance commitments from 67 companies on the Copperbelt (2000)

  • Participated as one of the Interested and Affected Parties in the development of the Gwembe Tonga Environmental Mitigation Project (GTMP). GTMP is part of the Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO) Power Rehabilitation Project, funded by the World Bank and Development Bank of Southern Africa. The project mitigates negative impacts inflicted on over 50,000 indigenous people of Zambezi Valley who were forcibly relocated to facilitate for the construction of Kariba dam hydro-electric power station in the 1950s (1998-2002)

  • Participated as Interested and Affected Parties when mining companies Chambishi Metals, Konkola Copper Mines and Mopani Copper Mines developed Interim and Final Environmental Management Plans. In addition, Konkola Copper Mines developed a Resettlement Action Plan for 750 families in Kawama and Ming’omba on the Copperbelt relocated to facilitate the expansion of Lubengele tailings dam. At the time of relocation, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) owned 7.5% shares in Konkola Copper Mines (1999-2005)

  • Facilitated the Public Disclosure and Consultation Process for Konkola Copper Mines and Mopani Copper Mines Final Environmental Management Plans and Social Management Plans (2001)

  • Coordinates World Environment Day Commemoration on the Copperbelt. (2002-2005)
